All over the world, drug organizations depend upon corrupting border guards, customs inspectors, police, prosecutors, judges, legislators, cabinet ministers, military officers, intelligence agents, financial regulators and presidents and prime ministers. Businesses cannot count on the integrity of government officials in such environments. And corrupted we have become, while publically taking the moral high ground.

Costs of corruption

A very short but essential message:
Analysis of fifty corruption studies shows a series of negative economic costs: ‘an increase of corruption by about one index point reduces GDP growth by 0.13 percentage points and GDP per capita by 425 US$’. ‘An increase in the corruption index by about one point has the same effect as a 7.5 percentage points increase of the tax rate’.
